WHY THIS STIR FRY IS SO GOOD

I enjoy stir-fry recipes because they’re easy and quick. Great for busy nights! This is a simple recipe that can be prepared in less than 30 minutes. Everything is cooked in a single pan, making for the easiest cleanup.

They’re also adaptable and can be prepared in numerous ways based on what ingredients are available. I designed the honey-garlic chicken stir-fry with plenty of broccoli. It is possible to replace the broccoli with bell peppers, carrots, or even cauliflower!

The key to a great stirring fry is to use a hot pan. I like cooking the chicken in batches to ensure it remains nice and crisp. Also, I cook broccoli on high heat until it’s caramelized on the outside but retains the perfect crunch.

When the broccoli and chicken have been cooked, I return them to the pan, along with the ingredients for the sauce. I like adding honey, soy sauce, and water. That’s it!

INGREDIENTS

Broccoli: I love using a bag with pre-washed broccoli florets in order to simplify things. However, you can break off the broccoli crown. Flowers and stems, too!

Chicken Breasts Skinless and boneless legs also work. The only thing to consider is your preferences!

Garlic adds some spice as well as bright flavor to the delicious sauce.

Soy Sauce: I recommend using low-sodium to control what salt you use used in this dish, but you can use what you have!

Honey The sugar can be granulated, or agave nectar could also be used; however, honey provides the most flavor to the sauce, based on my personal experience.

Sesame oil: A little of it can go a long way and give a lot of rich, roast sesame flavors!

It is made of cornstarch. It is the ingredient that makes the delicious sauce so silky and dense!

HOW TO MAKE HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN STIR FRY

Sauté broccoli Broccoli: Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large pan. Add the broccoli, and sauté until the broccoli is tender and caramelized, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the broccoli from the pan and put aside.

Cook the chicken: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan. My chicken is cooked in 2 batches so that it is crisp and brown on the exterior. Add the garlic, and cook for another minute.

Make the sauce: Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix soy sauce as well as honey, water, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce into the pan with broccoli.

Incorporate the sauce in the pan, along with the broccoli. In a small dish, mix the cornstarch with one teaspoon of water that is cold. Slowly stir the cornstarch mix in the word. Let it simmer until the sauce has increased in thickness, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and serve immediately with sesame seeds to garnish, if you wish.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Refrigerate any leftover honey garlic stir-fry chicken in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to four days. Ideal for meal prep in advance of a busy week!

Freeze in a freezer-safe, sealed plastic bag (flat) for up to two months.

Reheat the dish in a skillet or microwave until it is bubbling and warm to.

TIPS AND VARIATIONS

Cook the chicken until it is brown on all sides. This will create an outer crust that seals in all that delicious juice that is on the inside.

Triple or even double the sauce used in the honey-garlic chicken stir-fry to keep in the freezer to be used later!

Alternate the protein by substituting shrimp or tofu for cube steak.

You can also keep it vegetarian-friendly by adding additional vegetables! Asparagus, cauliflower sugar, ar snap peas, and zucchini (especially zucchini noodles) are all delicious options.

Add spice by adding sriracha chili oil, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper.
