There are numerous recipes for preparing raw foods that can be found using the internet, and the variety of recipe types and ingredients may astound many individuals. There are recipes for raw soups, raw salad dressings, raw appetizers, raw snacks, and ideas for every meal of the day. One very popular recipe that even kids love is kale chips, and this recipe is incredibly simple to make at home. All that is needed is a food dehydrator and a few ingredients.
Start with a large bunch of kale, making sure to buy the curly variety. Wash the kale thoroughly and then remove the leafs from the stem. Spread the kale leaves out on the dehydrator trays. Make sure that there is space in between each leaf for air circulation, and do not overlap the leaves or crowd them on the tray. Sprinkle the kale with some sea salt, and then place the trays on the dehydrator.
This is one of the recipes that is enjoyed by almost everyone who tries these chips. While dehydrating the kale chips make sure to rearrange the trays every hour, placing the top trays on the bottom of the dehydrator and moving the bottom trays to the top. Dehydrate the chips until they are the desired crunchiness, anywhere from 1- 6 hours in most cases.
Once the kale chips are dried to your personal preference place them in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil that has been cold pressed and 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast. Throw in another half a teaspoon of sea salt. Gently mix until all of the chips are thoroughly coated with the oil mixture and then serve immediately. Another method is to combine all of the listed ingredients in a bowl before dehydrating, and adding lemon juice and garlic powder as well. This method may require up to 12 hours to dehydrate the chips, and possibly longer in some cases.
This is just one of the fabulous raw foods that can be used. Following a this diet can be delicious and exciting instead of offering limited food choices and bland meals, but only when the right recipes are included in your daily diet.
